Football
- Matt was picked up by the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in the winter of 2001 however Matt returned to school to finish his degree.
- Matt was signed as a free agent, working out with the Buffalo Destroyers of the AFL and then spending 2003 with the Cincinnati Swarm of the AF2. Matt became one of the first Canadians to play in Arena Football.
- Prior to his professional career Matt was a 5 Year starting Defensive Nose Tackle at the University of Ottawa (’98-‘02/03 season). Matt Started 50 games for the University of Ottawa.
- Matt was twice named a 1st team All Conference All-Star, a three year University of Ottawa Football team Captain and also Started in and won the Vanier Cup (Canadian National Championship) in 2000 with Ottawa U.
- Matt Was named “Best Lineman” in 2001 for the University of Ottawa and was recruited and red-shirted his true freshman year at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan (NCAA II)
- Matt was named to the Shrine Classic All-Star game in High-school along with lettering in Football, Lacrosse, and Track & Field. Matt was also named MVP of both his High-school senior football team and intermediate Lacrosse team.
Athletic Accomplishments
- Achieved a steroid free 700 pound plus squat in 2003, Second fastest lineman pro-agility in 2000 CFL Combine (4.51), achieved a 545 pound bench press his true freshman year and has played intermediate lacrosse and was named MVP of the league in 1999.
- Matt completed his WSI (water safety instructors’ course) and is an accomplished swimmer, has studied various martial arts including Tae Kwon Doe, Russian Sambo, and Jujitsu.
